This residence is inspired by restrained architectural forms, minimal detailing and authentic materials. The proposed architectural form pays homage to the existing Victorian charm & elegance.
Visually recessive behind the existing roof, the new connection extends towards the outdoors as a light and contemporary structure. The increased glazing brings in natural light, maximises vistas from inside and provides fluid and holistic connections to the outside. The elegant Victorian lacework and rhythmic vertical picket fencing details of the existing fabric are explored as contemporary design features throughout the extension. These elements are present in the new vertical facade detailing and folding screening. Use of authentic materials, including fine metal screening, concrete and natural stone bring a refined, contemporary touch to the original Victorian elegance.
