Juxtapose Bungalow

Located within sight of the foreshore in Brighton, this 1920s bungalow renovation and addition aims to bring the house into the 21st century whilst reinvigorating the existing home to allow the family to occupy the space for years to come. The new addition carefully adjoins the existing house, creating a light-filled extension with luminous living with kitchen and dining space overlooking the backyard and pool. A light-filled stair leads up to a second storey providing sweeping additional bedrooms and private elevated outdoor space for its occupants. A stark contemporary external palette, responds to the existing home and provides homage to the masonry construction by incorporating the material in the fireplace to the living room. The juxtaposition of old and new respectfully rejuvenates a historical residence to create an enduring home.
