A new residence nestled within a tree-lined street of Kew, ‘The Colonnade’ commands a strong street presence with its corner location. Sculptural, curved forms converge to define a grand entry, which in turn becomes a wayfinding element with the site’s dual street frontage. A wraparound external walkway responds to the human scale of the street, whilst providing solar protection for its North- and West-facing facades. The use of such robust materials as concrete, steel and stone ensures the building stands the test of time and balances luxury with the softness and blackened timber. Landscape plays an important role as occupants are treated to experiential moments around the dwelling, with pockets of private gardens, pools and terraces interlaced throughout the grounds.
